Allegiant to be Split into Two, to be Released in 2016 and 2017

Lionsgate has officially announced that the third novel of Veronica Roth's Divergent series, which is entitled Allegiant, will be split into two parts. The release for the part 1 will be on March 18, 2016 while the second one will be on March 24, 2017. 

Splitting the final book of the series is not new for young adult novels that are made into movies, such as Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Hunger Games.

Allegiant Movie to be Released on March 18, 2016 - Won't be Split into Two

Indiewire has reported that the third and final book of Veronica Roth's Divergent trilogy will be released on the 18th of March 2016. Lionsgate has also confirmed that Allegiant won't be split into two parts, unlike a lot of young adult (YA) book-to-film adaptations like Mockingjay (Hunger Games trilogy), Breaking Dawn (Twilight Saga), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter series). 

Last year, it has also been reported that Neil Burger will not return to direct the sequel of Divergent, which is Insurgent (to be released March 15, 2015). Brian Duffield will write the screenplay of the second book's adaptation to the big screen. Lionsgate is still in search for Insurgent's director since Burger won't be able to have enough time preparing for the sequel that is already slated on the 15th of March 2015.
