Theo James is Four in Divergent

After the long wait and speculations we can now settle down as Lionsgate has cast the most coveted role in this highly anticipated franchise DIVERGENT. Yes, we have Four and it was given to the British actor Theo James. Who is he? Look at the picture below.

For those who don't know yet, Four is Tris' instructor during the Dauntless initiation and he will became his love interest throughout the series. He's actual name is Tobias Eaton but the Dauntless community calls him Four since he only got four fears. He is mysterious, really. Just read the book and find out why.

On the other hand, Theo James has appeared in CBS' Golden Boy and he also starred opposite Kate Beckinsale in the Underworld Awakening. He can sing too and he's a member of the Shere Khan band. Theo James on being cast as Four:

Lionsgate execs on casting Theo as Four:

Theo is not only an incredibly talented actor, he is also who we envisioned as Four when reading Veronica’s novel which has taken the world by storm,” says Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger, co-chairmen of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group in a joint statement. “As we continue to develop the film, the studio remains committed to providing fans with a movie adaptation that stays as true to the book as possible and we are confident that we have done so with our selection of Shailene and Theo in the leading roles.

“We took our time to find the right actor to fill the role of Four, and Theo is definitely the perfect fit. Veronica has crafted a truly iconic character in Four and we cannot wait to begin production and bring him and this story to life for millions of fans around the world.”

Shailene Woodley Talks About the Ideal Actor to Play Four in Divergent

This is a continuation to MTV's interview with Shailene Woodley at the Sundance Film Festival. This time the actress talked about who should play Four, a divergent and will be Tris' main love interest. Find out more below:

On finding Four:

"Dude, I want to find him. We have been doing some tests. We've been doing some auditions," Woodley said. "We'll see what happens. As of now, we have been scoping out the land. There are a few in particular — two guys — that I think are really great."

On the ideal guy who should play Four:

"The thing about Four is that he has to be a man. No feminine actors, please," she said. "You cannot walk in that room in pretty little boots and pretend you're a man. I'm sorry. You need to walk in there, and you need to not have muscles that look good and not actually work. There have been a few guys that have this power about them. It's a natural masculine power that some people have and some people don't. There's nothing good or bad or wrong or right about it. This character needs to be extremely masculine, and his eyes need to scream vulnerability and sensitivity. It's really hard to find in a dude, especially a dude who can act."

Screen testing with actors for Four:

"It's more just the chemistry between the two of us and seeing if we do have that chemistry or can work on that chemistry — seeing if our back-and-forth dialogue makes any sense with each other," she explained. "There's a lot of standards that have to be met."

On the challenge of playing Tris:

"I think that a big thing is just pretending that I live in that world. It's a world that's so different from today, but not really," she said. "Thinking of the dystopian world and living in different factions and not being allowed to express your multiple personalities. Being constricted to one thing is going to be the challenge."

Divergent Casting News: Alex Pettyfer, Lucas Till, and Jeremy Irvine Tested for the Role of Four

The last Divergent casting news or should I say rumor that we heard since Shailene Woodley was cast as Tris was the four actors who were considered to play Four. Today, we have heard another news from Cinema Blend and other entertainment sites about the most coveted role of Four or Tobias Eaton in Divergent. 

According to reports, Alex Pettyfer, Jeremy Irvine, and Lucas Till will read for the role this week. Lucas Till was one of the four actors in the first casting rumors for the role of Four. Other actors include Luke Bracey, Jack Reynor, and Brenton Thwaites.

Alex Pettyfer played the lead in "I am Number Four" and is usually the dream cast of all fan girls as lead in almost all YA books to films adaptions including Peeta in "The Hunger Games" and Jace in "The Mortal Instruments." But, he wasn't able to have those roles, some says that he turned them down. Yes, he definitely have the looks but a lot have been complaining about his attitude recently including his feud with Magic Mike co-star Channing Tatum.

Jeremy Irvine played the lead in War Horse and Lucas Till played Havoc in X-Men: First Class.

Actors Who Are Considered to Play Four in Divergent Movie

Deadline has reported that there are four potential actors who are vying for the role of Four or Tobias Eaton in the film adaptation of Veronica Roth's novel entitled "Divergent." No, Alexander Ludwig is not one of them. You should bear this in mind that this is all rumors and not official. Anyway, Deadline says that the actors who are rumored to play Four include Lucas Till, Luke Bracey, Jack Reynor, and Brenton Thwaites. Accordingly, these four actors have had their chemistry reading with Shailene Woodley, who will play Tris, last November 14, 2012. 

Lucas Till might be the most recognized among the four because of his involvement in quite popular films like the X-men: First Class as Havoc. Other than that, Lucas might be a familiar face in different fandoms, particularly The Hunger Games (THG) and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (TMI: COB). It was reported before that Lucas had auditioned for the role of Peeta Mellark in THG and Jace Wayland in TMI: COB but he wasn't able to get any of those career-rising roles. Would this be Lucas' time to burst up his career?
